Announced by Lei Jun during Beijing Auto Show 2026, this center brings together top talent from BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini and Mercedes-Benz — marking a clear push into the category of premium EV.
The center is run by the Rudolf Dittrich, with the support of industry veterans such as Claus-Dieter Groll, known for his work on many BMW models. With the support of a growing team of approx. 50 specialists, the areas that Xiaomi Auto focuses on include:
- High-performance vehicles
- Premium design and engineering
- Advanced automotive technologies
- Vehicle dynamics and driving experience
The first model to benefit from this European know-how will be the YU7 GT — one SUV which is focused on performance and is expected to be released soon, marking Xiaomi's move into the higher-end EV car space.
The current series of Xiaomi Car already includes the SU7, SU7 Ultra and YU7, with strong popularity in the Chinese market, as they have already been completed 26,000 deliveries and there are more than 60,000 locked orders which were mentioned for the new series of SU7.
Behind the scenes, Xiaomi is also strengthening its leadership position by hiring experienced staff from Tesla and other major automobile manufacturers, further strengthening the research and manufacturing department.
By Europe – especially the Germany – to be designated as the first international destination, the Xiaomi Car is not just expanding, but is preparing to compete head-on with powerful and historic vehicle manufacturers in their own backyard.
