Xiaomi officially expands its smart accessory ecosystem with the global launch of Xiaomi Tag

Entering the growing market of Bluetooth trackers, the new device is designed to help users locate personal items such as keys, wallets and luggage via one compact fob which operates on battery.

Cross-platform compatibility

One of the most notable aspects of the Xiaomi Tag is its wide compatibility. The tracker integrates into the network Apple's "Find My", allowing iOS users to leverage Apple's extensive tracking infrastructure.

In addition, it is fully compatible with Android devices via the application Xiaomi Home, positioning it as a flexible option for users regardless of their preferred mobile operating system.

Design and monitoring features

The Xiaomi Tag features a minimalist white design in oval shapeIts compact footprint and weight 10 grams, allowing it to easily fit into a wallet or attach to key chains and bags using third-party accessories.

To detect objects that are not placed in close proximity, the device is equipped with a built-in speaker capable of emitting a loud sound to guide the user. For objects that are further away, the device uses its network compatibility to provide location updates on a map interface. The system also supports the “left behind” notifications, notifying users on their smartphone if they become separated from a tagged object.

Battery life and durability

Battery life is a critical factor for tracking devices. Xiaomi says the Tag offers a battery life of over a year, minimizing the frequency of battery replacements.

The device is also built to withstand daily exposure to the environment, featuring IP67 Rating certification for water and dust resistance to ensure reliability when attached to external objects such as luggage or backpacks.

Privacy and security

Addressing the typical security concerns associated with location trackers, Xiaomi has emphasized privacy in the design of the device. Tracking data is encrypted and the system includes built-in privacy protocols designed to prevent unauthorized monitoring and protect user data.

Pricing and availability

The Xiaomi Tag It is available in white and is priced at RM79 for a single unit and RM299 for a pack of 4 devices. After the launch discount, the price is RM59 and RM199, respectively. It is now available at Malaysia and selected European countries and will expand to other markets in the coming weeks.

The Xiaomi Tag has already appeared in several European websites before its official release. According to the leaked listings, the device costs € 17.99 ($ 21) and if you buy a pack of four, it will cost € 59.99 ($ 70)
