Η Xiaomi presented the new in China Mijia Air Conditioner Pro with upward airflow, which detects human presence in the space

Last year, Xiaomi debuted a new groundbreaking concept in the world of home cooling, introducing an air conditioner that blows air upwards instead of straight into your face.

The result was a less intrusive, more comfortable airflow that hugged the walls and ceiling – sort of like ambient cooling, but smarter. Now, Xiaomi is back with a smarter version: the new Mijia Air Conditioner Pro, which in addition to the upward airflow, also detects human presence in the space, priced at 3.999 yuan (~ $ 550).

The latter 1,5 horsepower power unit conveys the basic concept of air flow hugging the wall, but at the same time adds a powerful upgrade: the dual mmWave radars that track human presence in real time. This system can detect in real time where you are in a room, and decide whether to send cooling in your direction for a quick cool relief or redirect it to avoid freezing you. It's technology you'd expect to find in a much more expensive central AC system.

The integration of radars also helps save energy. If the system detects that no one is around, it automatically switches to low-power mode, and as soon as it detects a presence in the room, it quietly increases its performance again.

Xiaomi claims that this smart control powered by Lingyun AI engine and supports Cloud-based scene recognition, it can save you around 361 kWh per year, which translates to approximately 216 yuan (30 $ XNUMX) discount from the electricity bill.

Inside the device, the Xiaomi Pro uses a twin-scroll inverter compressor combined with a dual-row condenser and an evaporator, allowing it to heat and cool efficiently even in extreme temperatures – from -35°C in winter to 65°C in hot summer. It has a rating APF 5.65, which meets the requirements for China's highest level of energy efficiency, "Super Level 1".

The unit also supports the Xiaomi's HyperOS Connect, works with the voice assistant Mi Home and Xiao Ai and receives Firmware updates via OTA, adding new features to the device. You can also customize your favorite functions or use some preset scenes based on activity or time of day.

But there is more: It supports self-cleaning cycle at 56 ° C for both indoor and outdoor units, and features a antibacterial filter which has been evaluated for removal of over 99% of common germs.

The unit can move up to 830m³/h of air volumeWhile operates quietly at 18dB (A) in silent mode.

Design-wise, it is sleek and compact and the indoor unit weighs only 13 kg and only needs 35 centimeters of vertical space and 2 centimeters of distance from the top, giving installers much more flexibility than bulky traditional wall units.
