Xiaomi continues to expand its smart home ecosystem with the long-awaited Water Immersion Guard 2
The new model comes five years after its launch Water Immersion Guard 1, and is specially designed for use in homes, offices or any environment that is prone to water leaks.
The Water Immersion Guard 2 comes with improved detection accuracy, greater durability, and smart integration with Xiaomi smart devices, and offers high-level protection against water damage — ensuring you get the real-time notifications before a small leak turns into a major problem.
Smarter and faster leak detection
The new Water Immersion Guard 2 features dual detection sensors located at the bottom of the unit, capable of detecting even the smallest amount of water leakage in the 0,5 mm, and is twice as sensitive as the first version. It also includes a top detection system that even detects splashes, immediately activating a visual and audible alarm when it detects a possible leak.
Three years of uninterrupted battery life
It is powered by a durable Button battery (CR2450), and the new model offers up to 3 years of continuous use — tripling the lifespan of the previous model. Users can even rely on offline mode, meaning the device continues to work and alert even without an internet connection.
Smart notifications and automated protection
When water is detected, Water Immersion Guard 2, in addition to the audible and visual alert, also sends immediate notifications via the Xiaomi Home app, allowing users to answer remotely. Even better, it can also connect to other Xiaomi smart devices — such as smart plugs or them power switches, proceeding to automatic power cut to vulnerable devices and to avoid electrical damage during leaks.
Built for durability and harsh environments
Xiaomi has strengthened the design with certification IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, ensuring that the device will remain functional even in wet or dusty areas such as bathrooms, basements or kitchens. It is also made of UV-resistant materials, preventing discoloration and extending its lifespan in all conditions.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Water Immersion Guard 2 will be released through Xiaomi's crowdfunding platform (Ypupin) on October 15 with price at 59 yuan (≈ 8 $/ 7 €), at retail price 69 yuan (≈ 10 $ / 8 €) after the campaign.
