Xiaomi has clarified a recent rumor that has been circulating in technology and automotive news outlets.
A widely circulated report claimed that the Xiaomi and Ford Motor Company were in talks to create a joint venture to produce electric vehicles (EV) in the United States, potentially marking a huge step for Xiaomi's overseas ambitions. However, both companies have officially denied these claims.
Official denials from Xiaomi and Ford
In response to the rumors, the Xiaomi made a post on official account of X, to clarify the situation:
Shortly before that, Ford also issued a denial through its communications team at X, characterizing the initial reports as "completely false» and without any real basis.
The initial information came from a report by Financial Times citing anonymous sources that Ford had explored possible discussions with the Xiaomian, regarding the production of electric vehicles in the US. This has attracted significant attention due to the growing global interest in electric vehicles and potential cross-border collaborations in the automotive sector.
However, in official statements, neither Xiaomi nor Ford confirmed these negotiations and both explicitly stated that no discussions are taking place to create a joint venture.
Xiaomi's presence outside China
Xiaomi's automotive division has become a topic of international interest, thanks to models such as the sedan Xiaomi SU7, which has received very good reviews and has been a big hit in domestic sales. However, Xiaomi does not currently sell its cars or products in the US market, and there are no negotiations with Ford or any other US company regarding joint EV production or entry into the US market at this time.
Official denials do not diminish the rapid growth that Xiaomi has achieved in the electric vehicle space domestically and internationally, especially in regions where the Chinese EVs have already been adopted. But for now, the focus of Xiaomi Car remains outside the United States and there are no confirmed plans for a joint venture to produce EV cars in the US with Ford.
