gov.gr: 100 thousand free approved digital signature certificates for citizens and professionals

Free 100.000 approved digital signature certificates through gov.gr, to both citizens and professionals


The use digital signatures It reduces the need for in-person presence to process a service, whether public or private, while facilitating people with disabilities and residents of remote areas in particular. It also contributes significantly to the acceleration of administrative procedures and enhances the availability of digital services to a wide range of professions, such as engineers, lawyers, etc.

The Ministry of Digital Governance provides 100.000 approved digital signature certificates for free through gov.gr, both to citizens and to professionals, who are registered in professional registers or bodies, within the framework of the project "Provision of Trust Services».

This is an important project as the use of digital signatures reduces the need for in-person presence to complete a service, whether public or private, while facilitating people with disabilities and residents of remote areas in particular. It also contributes significantly to the acceleration of administrative procedures and enhances the availability of digital services to a wide range of professions, such as engineers, lawyers, etc.

Interested citizens and professionals can obtain a digital signature by submitting an application through gov.gr in the Section "Citizens and Everyday Life» and in the subsection «Electronic signatures». The certificates are issued by Approved Trust Service Providers, who are registered in the European trust list and in the corresponding registers of the National Telecommunications and Postal Commission (EETT). It also does not require the existence of a relevant portable device (usb-tokenot).

In particular, for natural persons, the procedure includes the following:Issuance of a Responsible Declaration via gov.gr, from which the necessary personal information will be extracted, which will be pre-filled in the application. As for members of a professional body, they are redirected via gov.gr to the corresponding environment of the body. Using the personal authentication codes of each body, the information is extracted from the interconnected registry for the completion of the application.

It is noted that all professional associations and bodies that wish to do so are invited to declare their interest in obtaining free approved digital electronic signature certificates, with a relevant request to the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance of the Ministry of Digital Governance and specifically in the Trust Services Department in dir_elyp@mindigital.gr or at protocol@mindigital.gr, indicating the name of the organization, representative for the specific request and contact information.

Upon approval of the relevant request, the necessary adjustments to the information systems in the registry of each entity will follow, for the interconnection of the application with the corresponding registry and the secure authentication of its members.
