This particular charger, which is also available in the Apple Store at the price of 160 dollars, recalled worldwide from October 2023. Belkin recommends that consumers stop using it immediately and contact the company for to receive a refund.
The recall only affects the specific model, with model number BPD005, which was released in May 2023 and does not affect other products of the company.
Belkin identified a manufacturing issue that may cause the lithium battery to overheat, increasing the risk to user safety. For this reason, it recommends to consumers place the charger in a safe and dry place, away from flammable objects, while stressing that it should not be thrown into garbage or recycling bins.
Belkin urges consumers who have purchased the BoostCharge Pro Fast Wireless Charger disconnect it from any power source and contact the company immediately for return instructions. Despite the recall, no injuries have been reported and the company stresses that its other products are not affected by the problem. Consumers will receive a full refund.
